Dear Parents/Guardians --
As Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Director of Health Dr. Amy Acton have indicated, April will likely be a critical turning point in containing the spread of the COVID-19 virus. I urge you to continue your vigilence in making sure every member of your household stays home. For those who must venture out, please apply the important social distancing practices advised by the CDC.
We have been asked to forward to you this letter from Rebecca N. Starck, MD, President of Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital.
We've had a few people ask for further clarifications since my last Update:
- Yes, as announced earlier, Spring Break will still be held as previously scheduled -- April 10-19.
- Governor DeWine has announced incremental time frames for schools to be closed, and he recently extended closures from April 3 through May 1. While our eLearning plan does anticipate that schools may be closed for the remainder of the academic year, we would of course resume in-person instruction if Governor DeWine allows schools to re-open. However, the assignment and course grading modifications announced will likely remain in place for the rest of this academic year regardless. Please connect with your teachers and school principals with specific questions about grading and about assignments.
Also, if your family finds itself in a position of food insecurity, there are many local resources available to help. We have collected some of them on this resource page, and urge you to use them if needed.
Finally, I know you are as thankful as I am for the efforts made by our staff members in pivoting to eLearning to keep teaching and learning on track for our children. Our Board of Education members created this special video message to convey their thanks, and I thought you would enjoy viewing it, too.
