Dear Parents/Guardians:

First, I want to thank you for supporting the education of our students during this stay-at-home, eLearning time.

We understand that providing this level of support may be stressful for some families. Those with younger students especially can find that keeping up with assignments and teacher communication is a challenge.

That is why we have:

1) removed the added stress of grades beyond a "complete" or "incomplete"; and

2) developed these school-specific Parent eLearning Guides to simplify and support your efforts at home.

My message to you is that Teachers Teach, Parents Support, and Students Learn! Please do not feel that you need to become an expert in teaching our state standards. Our teachers will guide that learning so students are ready for next year. We want your family to experience eLearning as a joyful and constructive experience!

We welcome the wonderful creativity we have seen as our children continue to learn important knowledge and skills at home. It's a clear demonstration that eLearning can be an opportunity for parents to build stronger relationships as they have fun with their children while learning.

The safety and well-being of our families and staff members remains my top priority. Social distancing protects us, but it presents challenges with new kinds of stress. Please know that we offer immediate resources for you to get help if you feel you need it. Our school counselors are standing by with expertise geared to the ages of your children. Please reach out if you start feeling overwhelmed. (Find their email addresses in our staff directory, search Counselor.)

I am also pleased to take part in the online parent meetings offered by our school principals. I expect that this will be a great way to re-connect and share ideas and solutions as we continue to learn from home. Look for more information from your building principals this week.

If you have general, district-wide questions for us, please make use of our Frequently Asked Questions form, available on our FAQ page . When we have answers, we will share them.

Remember, we are One Rocket Nation! We’ve got this!

Sincerely,

Jodie Hausmann, Superintendent
