In the event of severe weather or road conditions, or in the event of building power outages or other building issues, the Bay Village City School District may cancel school. When there is a closing, the district will use our School Messenger calling and messaging system to announce closings through voice messages, email and text. It is important that you keep any changes to your contact information up to date through your school office.
Do you want to receive important text messages on your cellphone?
- Make sure your contact information
is up-to-date at your child’s school. (If you are not sure, go ahead and complete Step 2 -- if your number is in the system, you will receive a confirmation back. If you don't get a confirmation, check that your cellphone number is in our system.)
- If you have not yet opted in to
receive text messages on a cell number that is currently in our system, you can do so by
using that cell phone to send a text message: text Y to the opt-in number 67587.
- We respect
your time and attention, and while we rely on email for routine
correspondence, we will do our best to keep voice and text messages
reserved for the most important notices.

In addition, we rely on news media as an important method to reach parents and students regarding school closings. You should not rely on information from individuals or social media without confirming closings on TV news websites or on bayvillageschools.com.
You can confirm school closings at the following news websites:
WKYC Channel 3:
http://www.wkyc.com/closings
WEWS Channel 5:
https://www.news5cleveland.com/weather/school-closings-delays
Fox Channel 8:
https://fox8.com/closings/
The above stations have a system in place to efficiently report school closings, and a security system is in place to eliminate the potential for false notifications. They also have back up power supplies.
More about closings:
- Closing confirmation will also appear on the district's website at bayvillageschools.com.
- Make sure your schools have updated telephone numbers and email addresses for your contact information.
- Glenview Center for Child Care and Learning remains open when K-12 schools are cancelled due to weather conditions (unless otherwise announced).
